This guide covers what happens from the first time Smart Lists opens until you reach Home and are ready to start using the app.

Installing Smart Lists

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Find Smart Lists.
  3. Tap “Install”.
  4. When installation finishes, open Smart Lists.

Opening Smart Lists for the first time

  1. The first time Smart Lists opens, you are taken through the initial setup flow before you reach the normal Home screen.
  2. The purpose of this setup is to identify you inside the app and, if you want, help you create useful starter lists through Quick Start.

Introduction screens

Read through the short introduction screens shown during first launch.

These screens explain the main idea behind Smart Lists: start with simple lists and add budgeting, sharing and other features only when you need them.

Choosing your display name

  1. When Smart Lists asks for your name, enter the display name you want to use.
  2. Review the name.
  3. Continue to save it.

Why Smart Lists asks for a name

“Share”d lists need a way to identify the people inside them.

Your name is used where Smart Lists needs to show who belongs to a list or who was connected to a shared action such as recording a payer.

Finishing setup

  1. After your display name is set, continue to “Quick Start” if you want help creating starter lists.
  2. Use Quick Start or skip it.
  3. Finish setup to reach Home.
