Smart Lists Guide

Personal Balance

Personal Balance is your own private running balance inside Smart Lists. It is separate from the shared totals inside Budget Lists.

What Personal Balance is

“Personal Balance” is your own private amount on Home. It is designed to show the amount you want Smart Lists to track for your personal spending.

It is separate from the budget inside an individual “Budget” List. A Balance Sync list can connect the two so a purchase updates both.

Setting up Personal Balance

  1. From Home, tap the “Personal Balance” card.
  2. Enter the amount you want Smart Lists to track.
  3. Select the currency for your “Personal Balance”.
  4. Save the “Personal Balance”.
IMPORTANT

Choose the currency carefully. Any list you want to sync with “Personal Balance” must use exactly the same currency.

Choosing a Personal Balance currency

  1. The currency you choose controls which Balance Sync lists can update your “Personal Balance”.
  2. For example, a USD “Personal Balance” can sync with a list whose in-list currency is USD. It will not sync with a list whose in-list currency is EUR.
IMPORTANT

“Personal Balance” currency and Balance Sync list currency must match.

Entering your starting balance

  1. Enter the amount you want “Personal Balance” to begin from.
  2. This should be the balance you want Smart Lists to track going forward.
  3. Save the amount to make it your current “Personal Balance”.

Understanding your current balance

The amount shown on the “Personal Balance” card is your current tracked personal amount.

If you use Balance Sync, eligible purchases reduce that “Personal Balance” automatically as you record them in the synced list.

Editing Personal Balance

  1. Open “Personal Balance” from Home.
  2. Edit the amount or available settings.
  3. Save the change.
  4. The updated amount becomes the current “Personal Balance”.

What Not set means

If “Personal Balance” shows Not set, you have not yet entered a “Personal Balance” amount.

Open the card and complete the setup before using Balance Sync.

Personal Balance privacy

“Personal Balance” is private to you.

Other members in a shared “Budget” List do not see your “Personal Balance”.

What other members can and cannot see

“Members” can see information that belongs to the shared list, such as shared items and payer information when enabled.

They cannot see your private “Personal Balance” amount.
