Basic and Advanced Budget Lists

Budget Lists can stay simple or use extra features. The labels on the Home tile help you see which level of tracking is active.

What Basic means

“Basic” means the “Budget” List is using the standard budget features without the extra advanced tracking options.

You can still add items, set a monthly budget and record purchases.

“Basic” is suitable when you only need to know how much has been used and how much remains.

What Advanced means

Advanced “Budget” Lists use additional tracking features beyond the basic monthly budget.

These can include “Track Who Paid” and Balance Sync when those features are enabled.

The extra labels on the Home tile help show which features are active.

Moving from Basic to Advanced

  1. Open the “Budget” List settings.
  2. Enable the advanced feature you need, such as Payer Tracking or Balance Sync.
  3. Save the setting.
  4. The list can then expose the additional controls required by that feature.

When Payer Tracking appears

Payer Tracking appears when “Track Who Paid” is enabled for the “Budget” List.

After that, recording a purchase can include selecting the member who paid.

The list can also show spending separated between you and other members.

When Balance Sync appears

Balance Sync appears when the “Budget” List is configured to update your “Personal Balance”.

Eligible purchases then affect your own “Personal Balance” automatically.

Balance Sync only affects your “Personal Balance”, not another member's private balance.

Changing Advanced Budget options

  1. Open the list settings.
  2. Review the advanced options currently enabled.
  3. Turn the features on or off according to how you want the list to work.
  4. Read any confirmation or explanation shown before changing a setting that affects recorded spending.

Understanding Advanced labels on Home

Home tiles can show labels such as “Basic”, “Payer tracking” and “Balance sync”.

These labels are a quick summary of how that specific “Budget” List is configured.

Different “Budget” Lists can use different combinations of features.
