Smart Lists Guide

Privacy

Smart Lists separates information that belongs to a shared list from information that is private to you.

What information is shared with list members

“Share”d list members can see information that belongs to that shared list.

This can include list items, shared purchase information, member names and payer information when the feature is enabled.

What stays private

Your private “Personal Balance” is not shown to other list members.

Your personal appearance and display preferences are also not shared as list content.

Personal Balance privacy

“Personal Balance” belongs to you.

Using Balance Sync in a shared “Budget” List does not expose your “Personal Balance” amount to other members.

Shared spending information

When “Track Who Paid” is enabled, payer information is part of the shared “Budget” List.

“Members” can use that information to understand who paid for recorded purchases.

Display names

Your display name can be visible to members because Smart Lists needs to identify people in shared lists.

Use a name that you are comfortable sharing with those members.

Invitations

Invitation codes are intended to give another person access to the specific list they were created for.

Only send an invitation to someone you want to join that list.

Data used by Smart Lists

Refer to the Smart Lists Privacy Policy for the complete description of data handling.

The guide explains product behaviour, while the Privacy Policy is the authoritative legal document.
